A Day In The Life Of A Dog

It is time to return to the dog and cat blogs, starting, as always, with the canine point of view. Enjoy!

7:43 AM. Waking up. Had good dreams. Found myself a mammoth bone. Yum yum yum, lots to chew.

7:47 AM. Good morning, human! Top of the morning to you. Say, how about some breakfast? I’m famished. Haven’t had a bite to eat since my ten PM snack.

7:51 AM. Wolfing down kibbles. Yummy!

7:55 AM. Out the door and on my run. See you later, human!

8:04 AM. Running through the fields, barking like a lunatic. Lots of sun, soft breeze. Feels good to be a doggie today!

8:25 AM. Stopping in to say hello to Spike the Magnificent, Tormentor of Squirrels. We greet each other in the customary fashion and begin to confer.

8:27 AM. Spike informs me that he has had a sighting of the enemy. Three squirrels coming through his yard this morning while he was inside. He was not pleased to see them gone by the time he got outdoors. They appear to be hoarding more nuts.

8:29 AM. Spike and I speculate on the value of nuts to squirrels. And what came first? The nut or the squirrel? Spike, I don’t know about you, but it’s too early in the morning for philosophy.

8:38 AM. I part ways with Spike after promising to keep him up to date with any sightings or skirmishes with the enemy.

8:47 AM. Passing by the property of that cranky cat. Hey, there she is at the window. Hello, cat!

8:48 AM. I can hear her hissing at me through the screen window. Come on, cat, why on earth can’t you and I ever get along? I mean, honestly, answer the question instead of giving me the finger.

8:49 AM. Well, there she goes giving me the finger. Fine, lady, be that way.

8:50 AM. Taking my leave of the cat’s property. I can still hear her hissing.

9:07 AM. Back home. Hello, human. I had quite a walk. I think it’s time for a good sleep though now.

11:55 AM. Waking up to the sounds of the human in the kitchen. Lunch time!

11:58 AM. I scarf down a dinner roll. Yummy yummy yummy yummy!

12:14 PM. The human calls and says we’re going for a drive. Oh boy! Car! Ride! Yay... hey, wait a minute, are we going to the vet again?

12:35 PM. Well, I have no idea where we’re going, but I know it’s not in the direction of the vet, so that at least is a good thing.

12:51 PM. The car’s stopped. I look out. Oh boy! The beach!

12:53 PM. Out the door and running about wagging my tail. I love the beach!

1:35 PM. Engaged in a serious game of catch the stick in the lake with my human. Is there anything more fun than catch the stick? I don’t think so.

3:01 PM. The human calls me in out of the water. Already? But we’ve only been here a couple of hours. I run out, stop right by her, and shake the water out. There! Ready to go!

3:03 PM. The human subjects me to the Towel of Torment and says something about wet dog smells, and says now I’m fit for the car. Oh, come on, human, it’s not that bad.

6:17 PM. Having dinner with the human. Bacon pancakes are a nice meal after time at the beach.

7:06 PM. Watching the human do dishes. Humans sometimes need supervision, after all. Besides, she won't let me lick the plates clean.

11:38 PM. The human is heading off to bed. Have a good night, human, and keep the door open in case I want to come on up. I’ll stay down here awhile, and speculate on the question as to which came first... the stick or the dog.

  5. Loved that first one! I think the human had to be eating more than bread to draw that crowd.
