Dawn Of The Planet Of The Groundhogs

Some links before I get started today. Yesterday having had been a Sunday, we had a Snippet Sunday post at our joint blog. Norma had a passage at her blog from An Army Of Angels. Krisztina had Super Bowl Sunday recipes at her page. Parsnip had updates on the Square Dogs here and here. Cheryl had some sad news about one of her cats. Lorelei wrote about being signed for a new publisher. And the Whisk had this funny pic

Now then, today is Groundhog Day, and so I mark the occasion with an image blog befitting my skewed sense of humour. Enjoy!

"Oww!!! Phil bit me!" ~ Giles Davis, President of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, 2015

"And so it was in that glorious first year of the Current Era, five thousand four hundred twenty eight years ago, that our Exalted Deliverer, Phil the Courageous, Groundhog of Groundhogs, struck the first blow in the Groundhog Revolution, which would overthrow the human overlords once and for all, turning all of them into our servants, and assuring a golden age of Groundhog rule over the globe." ~ Rufus Glockenspiel, President Of the Groundhog Federation

  1. Well, I for one enjoy and appreciate your sense of humor. I've never thought much about groundhogs or Groundhog Day. I probably will now. Thanks a lot! :)

  2. Hahaha, so I ate him. That's brilliant.

    Thanks for the shout out.

  3. You made me laugh. In Florida, we don't worry much about what the groundhog thinks.

  4. I have an awful feeling we're going to have more than six more weeks of winter, no matter what the groundhog sees or doesn't see.

    I, for one, am NOT coming out of my burrow until spring!

  5. Love this post so much I am sending it to my Japanese Son, today is his Birthday !
    wawahahaha "so I ate him" so perfect !

    cheers, parsnip

  6. @Lowell: you're welcome.

    @Whisk: thank you!

    @Shelly: here we can expect winter to last through March.

    @Norma: but that would be a good thing!

    @Parsnip: thank you!

  7. Most of the groundhogs I see are road kill. The only shadow visible is cast by vultures.

  8. I'm not sure why this tradition continues. Winter is going to last as long as it wants, unfortunately.

  9. Game of Thrones squirrels- hilarious :D

    I completely forgot about Groundhog Day. I'm with Kelly. I don't understand why it's still a thing.

  10. I like the one about the Groundhog Day movie--one of my favorites. Makes me want to watch it in reverse :)

  11. LOL
    The "discussion" one is my favorite. I would like to have a discussion with that nasty rodent.

  12. There better not be more winter to come. I'm ready for Spring, dammit.

  13. Yes. I fun and amusing day of the year!

  14. Ah, tried to comment in here yesterday. Couldn't. Now I forget what I was going to say. But I did share, of course.
    Naturally, we got 17 inches of snow. Just like two years ago. Groundhog day is over rated!

  15. All these memes are just so fun to read. :D

  16. @Lynn: we see groundhogs quite a bit here in the summer. They seem to stay away from the roads.

    @Kelly: it really does.

    @Auden: it's an odd tradition.

    @Meradeth: I wouldn't mind doing that!

    @Petrea: thanks!

    @Anita: poor rodent!

    @Diane: as far as I'm concerned, spring can wait.

    @Grace: they're such cute little (or not so little) rodents.

    @Jennifer: it certainly is.

    @Lorelei: snow's a good thing!

    @Superlux: thank you.

  17. And on Feb 2, we again watched one of our all-time favorite films, Groundhog Day, again...but only once a year.
