Vampire Caprice: Sabrina Strong

Before I get started today, some links to see to. Norma was back at her blog with a farewell to a DJ. Parsnip had desert wildlife at her page. And Eve had a garden project at her blog.

Today I'm doing something different. Fellow author Lorelei Bell has just released Vampire Caprice, the fourth book in a series. It can be found at Amazon, along with other work by Lorelei, in Kindle format. Lorelei can also be found at her blog Lorelei's Muse.

The big vampire, Bjorn Tremayne has lost his reign and
has become a rogue, and this doesn't sit well with him. But he's about
to do something that will change all this. Dark World has set a bounty
on Sabrina's head because she wouldn't mate with him, but he has come
up with a way to trick her into bed with him. He needs to get her away
from the only vampire who protects her--Vasyl.

Sabrina's agenda was to enjoy a pleasant Thanksgiving with family, and
no vampires, Nephilim, werewolves or demons to interrupt it.
Unfortunately a demon in the guise of her grandmother has decided to
attack her at this family gathering.

Bill Gannon, her neighbor and Nephilim, has gotten an invite to
Thanksgiving. Just when he's about to save Sabrina from the demon, who
walks in, kills the demon and whisks Sabrina off in his cool Super
Snake Mustang but Tremayne... with the help of leprechaun Rick.

After the melee in Sabrina's brother's house, Tremayne convinces
Sabrina she isn't safe and manages to talk her into running.

Vasyl, meanwhile, has fought off Tremayne's minions, but in the
meantime has lost Sabrina. It's daybreak and he must hide from the
sun. He has to chase Sabrina across the Midwest, knowing that
Tremayne's ultimate goal is to mate with her--before he, himself has a
chance to consummate his marriage to Sabrina.

In order to complete his duty of finding the sibyl, Bill Gannon must
chase after Sabrina, too, and find a way to talk her into having his
children in order to save the whole Nephilim race.

While all of these men are vying for Sabrina's attentions, something
called an Undead, who feeds on souls, seeks Sabrina--the last
sibyl--for his own diabolical needs. And he is very determined to find
her.

Changing Seasons, Dark Tales, And Birthdays

A different change of pace today. I have some announcements on behalf of fellow writers today.

Hunter S. Jones is an author I've gotten to know in the last few months, and she delves into the paranormal genre. Her writing delves into magic, voodoo, sex, drugs, and rock and roll (or as Keith Richards puts it, breakfast). She can be found at her blog, Exile On Peachtree Street, as well as her Facebook page. Thus far she has two stories diving straight into genre available in the Kindle format. Fables of the Reconstruction and Tales From A New Amsterdam can be found over at Amazon. Go on over and have a look.

Hunter is also part of an anthology project due to release their book this month, on the 21st of March. Moon Rose Publishing is releasing A Celtic Tapestry, a collection of short stories by Hunter and several fellow conspirators... also known as writers. Keep an eye out on Hunter's blog, and back here for the Moon Rose Publishing page in the next day or two.

Some information on  A Celtic Tapestry:

The wheel of the year turns, bringing the joy of spring, the warmth of summer, the richness of autumn, and the merriment of winter. But eight Celtic festivals link these seasons together, bringing with them romance, lust, danger, and even magic. From a city under threat from night-time creatures at Ostara, to a selkie caught by the light of the Lughnasadh moon, to a writer caught in the flames of a fiery goddess at Imbolc.
Eight authors have come together to give their own twist on these festivals, weaving each story with a blend of myth, magic, and contemporary telling…to create A Celtic Tapestry

                                                               Authors:
                                                             Livia Ellis
                                                         Hunter S Jones
                                                         Laura De Luca

Second order of business. Back In January I mentioned Lorelei Bell's book Vampire Nocturne here. This weekend, Lorelei is doing a special giveaway she's calling Victorian Ball on Beyond the Black Veil. From March 9-11 at her blog Lorelei's Muse, she's giving away four copies of Vampire Nocturne.  Here's the teaser for the book:

Sabrina is becoming a magical creature—not just a clairvoyant with
ring that thwarts a vampire's thrall. In this exciting third installment, Sabrina learns how to travel the ley lines, and travels to another world called Beyond the Black Veil ~ a world where vampires outnumber humans ten to one, and humans are merely blood donors and objects of their sexual desires.

The Dagger of Delphi becomes her weapon of choice. And what becomes of Dante Badheart, whose spirit essences is contained in the stone he gave her when last he spoke to her from the dead, is another mystery that intrigues her.

Sabrina Strong's cousin, Lindee, has disappeared, and when she goes to the last place Lindee was seen, she finds herself transported to another world and century, where vampires rule. While trying to solve the mystery of where Lindee could be in this world, Sabrina encounters Drakulya—the real-life Dracula—a.k.a. The Impaler—who has somehow managed to become a vampire living in this strange world, and rules as King.

Next, some of you might remember the joint venture blog we did for awhile, a small group of writers, which we called Writers of Mass Distraction. We let it go dormant for awhile, but our Facebook page has taken off, with a crowd of thorough miscreants, ne'er do wells, and fellow writers. So we've decided to reopen the Wordpress Writers of Mass Distraction Page. Members of the group will get to post things like cover reveals, book releases, or whatever they wish to. Have a look over at it; we're getting things restarted at the moment, and follow us!

And my partner in crime and dear friend Norma Beishir marked the birthday of her son Collin at her blog Windchaser's Journey yesterday. Head on over and take a look, and wish Collin well. Norma is the one who got me to write, instead of just leaving the ideas I had in the back of my head to some future time. She's the reason the book is at hand. She's been a true friend.

I round things out today with a little game. I Write Like is a website I've seen before, and yesterday I saw it again, reading blogs that are nearly two weeks old (I'm running behind on reading). The idea is copying and pasting some paragraphs for analysis, and the program will tell you who you write like.

I copied in a passage from Chapter 29 of Heaven & Hell, and the program informed me that I write like Arthur Conan Doyle.

Well, that I'll take as a high compliment. Though none of my characters are a socially maladjusted opium addict.

If the program had told me I wrote like E.L. James, that would be the most grievous of insults. I would have no choice but to declare war on I Write Like.

Donald, Where's Your Trousers?

Before getting to today's mischief, some business to take care of, in the form of a cover reveal for a fellow writer; here's Vampire Nocturne, by Lorelei Bell:

From Lorelei, a taste of the third book in her series:

Lorelei will be releasing Vampire Nocturne soon, and you can find the previous books in the series at her Amazon author's page.  You can also find her blogging regularly at her two blogs, Lorelei's Muse and Lorelei's Writing Journal. Check them out, and you'll find Lorelei to be a lot of fun!

Now then, to the mischief on hand for today...

"Nae man can tether time nor tide." ~ Robert Burns

"If ye decide to commemorate me in dinners, please, don't ye get it into your minds to serve haggis as the meal. That food is just awful." ~ Robert Burns' last request, completely ignored by his friends and everyone else since.

It's Robbie Burns Day in Scotland and abroad, marking the anniversary of the poet's birth. We've done a blog marking the day over at our joint blog, so have a look over there when you've finished up here.

The day is a big one in Scotland, a national holiday that features get togethers centred on the drinking of whisky, and the eating of haggis at festive suppers. For those of you who might not know what that particular instrument of cruel and unusual punishment actually is, haggis is a pudding mix of oatmeal, onions, suet, spices... mixed with the heart, liver, and lungs of a sheep, and cooked inside the sheep stomach.

Yes, you read that right.

A few days ago I had fun with the Australians here in the blog, so of course I have to do the same with the Scots on their big day. I've started with that title, which of course you can never ask of a Scotsman wearing a kilt. He's likely to put on war paint and go berzerk. And you'll be in a world of hurt.

Robert Burns: Poet, Consumer of Haggis, Recounter of Tall Tales

The Loch Ness Monster always turns up when you're not looking

Of course, I still want to see Scotland for myself. It must be in my blood somewhere along the line... some distant Scottish ancestor. I want to walk the highland paths in the mist, hear the sound of the bagpipes, have a dram of the fine stuff, and figure out how the locals end up becoming Jedi Knights.

Just as long as I don't have to wear a kilt. Just saying.

With that, I leave you to the pics. Enjoy, and Happy Robbie Burns Day!
