It is indeed a tragic story of how feuds just keep going on. And the book sounds like an interesting and entertaining read, esp if there is humor in it! And I love the star trek pic! In part it was economically more viable to film there, but also, reading Alther's book, it noted that in the decades after the feud, much of the region has been laid waste by strip mining for coal. The places these people knew a century ago have been irrevocably changed.William Kendallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00331324250821836822noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7630295318214379308.post-76481961004964672672012-07-19T18:10:40.972-04:002012-07-19T18:10:40.972-04:00I saw the TV series and really enjoyed it. You could be doing this for a living if you didn't have something much better ahead of you!

Interesting that the author's background as a novelist added to her work on this book. It's been my experience that most novelists can't write nonfiction and most journalists can't write fiction. A writer who can do both is a rarity! How can so many good looking actors look so scuzzy? They must have told them not to wash for weeks. LOL
Nice review like always William. Kevin Costner will never look as mean as that picture of Devil Anse but I have yet to see the actual movie. I saw the previews though. Sorry, but I love Gosling in anything. Channeling him is a good thing. I like the strong silent type. Big-mouthed men can be very annoying and have been known to cause feuds.
